Aguona Laptop Bag by Knit Picks

Pattern: purchased as a kit from Knitpicks.com
Yarn: Knit Picks Telemark

Bought the kit from Knitpicks. Had trouble getting guage, knitting is very tight and still can only get 24 stitches to the 4” instead of the 26 recommended. I’m beginging to see why so many have posted about making this into a pillow instead of laptop bag….I’m thinking about a slite ‘felting’ of the bag, may help with the floats on the inside and will help with the extra inches.
5/24/09 - row 30
5/25/09 - RIPPED OUT! Starting over with #3’s.
6/4/09 - at the half way point!! Still large for my laptop, thinking of felt/fulling, if I do it inside out, may help with the floats…. 6/9/09 - almost done, still too large. If I had a sewing machine I’d sew it and cut the excess off, but I’m afraid my hand stitiches wouldn’t hold and the yarn would unravel. Still thinking of felt/full for this, my only reason to hesitate is the white/red combination, which will bleed into a lovely pink/red. When I finish, I’m going to swatch what’s left of the yarn and see how bad it bleed and felts….will keep you posted. OH yeah, and I’m doing an Icord bindoff.
6/9/09 the knitting is done, and have finished the swatch to try felting…just haven’t gotten around to it yet.
6/28/09 My friend Kim had a GREAT idea, since I had a laptop ‘sleeve’ already, just sew this bag over the sleeve….perfect! Takes up the extra space ‘cuse NO ONE can get gauge on this thing, adds padding for laptop safety-gotta have that, don’t have to worry about lining the bag since you know the laptop would snag all those floats in the inside no matter HOW good you are at it. YEAH!!

Aurora's NOT PINK Blanket

A friend is expecting a new arrival next month. And the MIL is buying everything in PINK. So this is NOT pink. It's a nice white and tan.
Yarn:Lily Sugar'n Cream Confectionary Colors Twists.
Very simple pattern, mindless TV knitting.

Tweedy Waistcoat by Deborah Newton

Pattern:Tweedy Waistcoat by Deborah Newton Interweave Knits, Fall 2008
Yarn: Lion Brand Fishermen's Wool Purchased a Ben Franklins in Louisville KY.

I started this Feb 7 and finished March 20, YES, it took me that long because it was difficult.

I did NOT love this pattern, way too many ends to sew when finished. Glad it’s done, won’t make it again. It’s really nice and I’m going to wear the heck out of it, but had too much brain work to want to knit this pattern again.

Oblique

Pattern: Oblique by Veronik Avery @ Knitty.com
Yarn:Knit Picks Andean Treasure from Knitpicks.com

Frogged yarn from another sweater(bohemian tunic from Knit Picks )that I just didn’t love anymore.

1/13/09 Finished the back, had trouble with the ragland decrese and the lace pattern.

1/25/09 Finished both fronts and cast on both sleeves. Life lines…gotta have ‘em.
2/1/09 You know when you’re getting closes to the end of a knitting project and you just KNOW that you’re not going to have enough yarn…. and the company probably doesn’t have that color anymore, much less the same dyelot…..
2/6/09 I’m 100% sure that I will NOT have enough yarn for the the top half of the sleeves or the collar, thank goodness I’ll be in Bowling Green next week and get to visit the wonderful ladies at Craftyhands, they will have something that I will make work. (I believe in faireys too!!)
2/15/09 Nope, no alpacca in peach at Craftyhands, sigh….But they had so many other things. Have searched the Ravelry ‘stash’ for this yarn and found a few that may be willing to help out.
2/23/09 A WONDERFUL Raveleryer had this color in her stash and was kind enough to send me her extra. Finishing up the sleeves this weekend….YEAH!
3/5/09 SHE’s BLOCKING!!! well the back is, have to flip her over tomorrow and block the front. YEAH!! And even though two seperate dye lots were used, I can NOT see any color variation. SWEET!

Ruana

Pattern: Knit Ruana GU420 by Oat Couture
Yarn: Nero Kureyon Sock Yarn/Rowan Kidsilk Haze

I WAS on yarn restrictions, I WAS, until that fateful visit to Bowling Green, Ky. I was planing on running into Crafty Hand and looking for some peach alpaca…doesn’t exist, but that’s another story. So before I can leave, this pattern jumps off the rack and SCREAMS my name. Then Starla (the owner) says…"oh did you see this made up with the Noro Kureyon Sock and Kidsilk Haze", and whips out a finished ruana in these incredible strips, and a photo of about 10 knitters wearing theirs. There’s always a bunch of knitters at this place working on something, it’s such a cool place, if I lived in Bowling Green, I’d live at this yarn shop. There was at least 8 women working on mitered scarves at 10 AM and the store had just opened. I know ‘cuse I was in the parking lot waiting for them to unlock the door! So long story short-I’m making a Ruana-photo’s to follow…
Finished!!! March 29!

The Grim Squeaker Egg Cosy by Sally Pointer

I g0t to TEST knit this!!!
There I was cruising along through Ravelry, looking at the new patterns and projects that folks are working on. If I’m not knitting, I’m reading about knitting, looking at knitting, or thinking/wishing I was knitting. And I come across this little fellow, now I’m a huge Terry Pratchett fan, and if you don’t know about Discworld…well all I can say is "I’m sorry" I don’t have enough space here to explain why you SHOULD know about Discworld.
Long story short, I spot this little fellow, and post a comment on the designers page "I love Terry Pratchett, hope to see this pattern soon!"
Well, Sally Pointer sends me back a email, ‘want to test knit him?"
YES!!! I scream at my laptop!!! And RAN to my enormous stash of yarn (left over yarn from stash, 2ply instead of required 4py fingering weight. JaggerSpun Zephyr Wool-Silk 2/18 purchased at Sarah’s Yarn) and by the time I got back to my computer-well under 3 minutes- she had sent me the pattern and I had him started and finished by the next morning.
